The plan also features 75 MySQL databases and tons of scripts to meet the needs of any small business or site. Popular scripts included; WordPress, phpBB, PHP-Nuke, and osCommerce. The site also comes PHP4 and PHP5 enabled and is multi-media ready. (flash, shockwave, MIDI, etc…) Every site comes with unlimited email accounts and unlimited email forwarding. The plan comes e-commerce ready with PayPal support and OS Cart as well as SSL certification.

Pricing is as follows:

1. 3 month – $7.77 a month + $30 set up fee
2. 1 year – $5.77 a month, free installation, 1 year free domain registration
3. 2 year – $5.77 a month , free installation, 2 year free domain registration

It should be noted that the $5.77 pricing is only available during the first year only, and will cost $7.77 after.

Service and Support:

PowWeb’s customer support is top level. Their online forum community is one of the largest on the net and the amount of information available is astounding. Not satisfied? They also offer external links and resources on their page as well as a very in-depth FAQ page and knowledge base. Need to talk to someone? Their phone line, email system, and live chat are available 24/7 to help no matter when you need a question answered.
After waiting only 3 minutes on hold the technician I happened to speak to was very professional and not only did he tell me what was wrong with my script error but he guided me slowly and step by step through the process of correcting the problem. I was very pleased with my experience using their phone line.

Conclusions:

• Pros – tons of features, lots of disk space and bandwidth, excellent pricing, one plan suits almost any small business need. Customer service is A+. Very modestly priced
• Cons – Pricing goes up after the first year, though the price is still low. No free installation with less than 1 year commitment.
• Other Thoughts – PowWeb offers a lot of value for what they charge but since they only offer one plan they might not be for everyone, though that plan far exceeds the needs of most small businesses or entry level users. People in the market for a cost effective host would not do wrong to investigate PowWeb for themselves.

I’ve been using PowWeb since 2001 and I wouldn’t switch hosts for the world. Their servers are super reliable, I can count the instances of downtime I’ve had on one hand. I never have slowness or delay between pages, and their plans allow for easy and affordable scalability. Their customer service is where they really shine though. There’s never been a problem that has taken more than a day to fix, and their staff has always been courteous and professional. I think the thing that separates PowWeb from other hosts is that their staff is genuine in their desire to help you. Other hosts I had tried would simply put me with someone who had no real interest in my problems and nothing is worse than working with someone like that. As a first time webmaster I was excited to sit down and create a website. But before I could do that I needed a webhost. After doing a little research I came across PowWeb. Their “one plan” offered everything I could possibly need and for less than $6 a month. PowWeb is also approved by the Better Business Bureau, and has been active since 1999, that tells me that they are experienced and have great expertise in this particular industry. That alone gave me a lot of confidence in PowWeb. I found out a lot of hosts simply used other hosting companies to supply their servers. A quick look around PowWeb’s easy to navigate site showed me that they used their own hardware so that when they say they have reliable servers, they mean it. When I finally got around to actually creating my site; I found it was easy, thanks to their user friendly control panel and the almost overwhelming amount of free software. Combine all of that with a 30-day money back guarantee and what have you got to lose?

When I saw PowWeb’s plans I immediately wanted to switch over. My host was charging me literally double what PowWeb’s plan cost. I had switched over by the end of the week. Today, I pay half as much as I used to, and get better performance and service. I had a bit of trouble moving and re-setting up some of my databases, but with PowWeb’s professional customer service, I had my problem resolved smoothly and efficiently and I even enjoyed working with their friendly staff. The servers themselves are also solid as a rock. My data is backed up regularly so I can recover lost data in the (rare) event of a crash. I guess I should expect such service from an award winning company. I can fully recommend PowWeb with no reservations. Great rates, great service, and great performance all of which PowWeb delivers fully.

I’m in the business of reselling shared hosting, and PowWeb has been excellent. Performance is A+ with their cutting edge hardware and due to their very solid infrastructure my customer’s sites can handle large data loads for long intervals. I’ve yet to receive a complaint about speed or downtime, and I haven’t had any myself on my own sites either. A reliable host is definitely a big factor when people are looking for hosting, I want to give my customers the best and PowWeb lets me do just that. PowWeb offers me a great price, and that allows me resell for less, so my customers reap the benefits as well. I had one brief problem with some scripts but their online forums community was incredibly helpful and I was able to find the answer in one of their many informative threads. The entire incident came and went within a few hours. Some hosts take DAYS through email to even acknowledge your problem. Their customer help line is also top notch, a skilled technician will help you identify your problem and then walk you through the steps to solve it clearly and professionally. I was referred to PowWeb in my search for some low price shared hosting. While doing some more research, I found out PowWeb was considered one of the top webhosting companies. It also received good scores in all categories. With that in mind I decided I would make them my host. I found a great plan for $5.77 a month, and it came with so many features, 300GB of disk space, 3000GB per month of bandwidth, unlimited FTP users, daily site backups, site statistic analyzers, many easy-install scripts, I’d be here all day if I tried to name them all. Unlike other hosts, I could start a plan lasting as little as 3 months, other hosts tried to make me sign for one to two year contracts. I prefer not to sign long contracts because if I needed to get out there was usually a hefty termination fee, with PowWeb though, I didn’t need to worry about that. With value like PowWeb’s I need not look further. On top of all that, their servers are very reliable and their customer service branch is dedicated to helping you eliminate any problems and get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.
